imconfident

I sincerely believe that it is far more beneficial and far less costly to help a child build confidence than it is to fix an adult who has little or none.

If today was your last day

on September 6, 2014

Today was certainly an exciting day when it comes to weather.  Early this morning and again this evening, I’ve been watching chain lightning and hearing loud cracks of thunder.  According to the weather network, severe thunderstorms have been experienced in Ontario, Quebec and parts of the United States, with several lightning strikes, heavy rains, hail and power outages and also the possibility of tornados.   A university student was even struck and killed by lightening this morning!  How tragic is that!  She never expected this to be her last day on earth.

Severe storms often make me think about the possibility of this being my last day on earth.  In just a split second, I could be hit by a lightning bolt, struck by a car, have a sudden heart attack or one of many things could happen.   I don’t want to sound morbid or gruesome, but seriously, we really don’t know.   Any day could be our last day and what are we doing about it?  Are we living each day to the fullest, loving each other, helping each other?   Do we believe that our life ends when we die or that we will have eternal life?  The song “If today was your last day” by Nickelback has great lyrics that should really make us think.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrXIQQ8PeRs

What would you do if you knew that today was your last day to live?

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day’s a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?

Against the grain should be a way of life
What’s worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts ’cause there’s no second try
So live like you’re never living twice
Don’t take the free ride in your own life

What if, what if, if today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?

And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you’re dreaming of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you’d finally fall in love if today was your last day?

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it’s never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are

So do whatever it takes
‘Cause you can’t rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
‘Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?

And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you’re dreaming of
Swear up and down to God above
That you’d finally fall in love
If today was your last day?

  1. Thank you Brenda, it gave me food for thought…. If today was my last day it would not worry me, I would be with the Lord tomorrow, how wonderful that would be. I have done all that was needed today and yesterday and the day before etc, those who are close to me know that I Love them as do my friends and my family, I hold no bitterness or resentment towards anyone and I never seek to hurt others. I have provided for those who were in genuine need when convicted to do so, my worldly chattels that I would leave behind mean very little to me and all are welcome to them, I would not miss them or even think about them. If there are some people who won’t make it to Heaven that I know and who I have shared the Truth about our King and Saviour with, I will never know because there is only Joy in Heaven.

My motto is a golden oldie….Why put off till tomorrow what you can do today… if you are able to of course, some may need our help to be able to do this.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne.
