I sincerely believe that it is far more beneficial and far less costly to help a child build confidence than it is to fix an adult who has little or none.

Happy Mommy Day!

on May 12, 2014

Last night I babysat my grandson and then spent most of the day with him and his parents; going to church, having a picnic and visiting other family to wish them a Happy Mother’s Day.   Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this day.  Landon will be 3 in July and his vocabulary is quickly growing.  This morning I rehearsed what he would say when his mother came to pick us up.  “I love you, mommy.  Have a happy mommy day!’  He went to give her a big hug and forgot what to say, so I whispered it in his ear and he whispered it in his mommy’s ears.  Kids are so cute!   I could tell how much his words meant by the huge smile on her face.

Mother’s Day reminds us to think about our mothers and do something to show our appreciation.   Sadly, some people don’t acknowledge this day because their mothers may not have been the best role model.  What we need to realize is that most mothers do try their best to be a good parent, but often they don’t know how.  We can only teach our children what we know and many mothers haven’t been raised in a positive, encouraging environment, so they just keep making the same mistakes that their parents and grandparents have done for generations before.

When we become a parents, especially a mother, it is our responsibility to find out the best ways to raise a child.  It doesn’t matter what kind of environment we grew up in, we CAN make positive changes in our lives so we CAN become a loving parent.    We will always make mistakes because we are human, but we should always do our best.

Don’t wait for the next Mother’s Day to roll around to show love and appreciation for our mothers.  Every we can be a positive role model for our children, our parents, other family members and friends by treating our children and everyone around us with love and respect.

Happy Mommy Day today and every day of the year!!

Here is a video of what a cute little man thinks of his mom.  Enjoy….
