imconfident

I sincerely believe that it is far more beneficial and far less costly to help a child build confidence than it is to fix an adult who has little or none.

It’s time for a change

on December 15, 2012

Have you ever wished you could change somebody?  Many people wish they could change their husband, wife, child, friend, boss, co-worker or someone else, so that their lives would be happier.  The problem is – we can’t change anyone else.  The only person we can change is ourselves and we are responsible for our own happiness.

Making some positive changes in our own lives will help us build confidence and boost our self-esteem.  Becoming a strong, healthy, happy person will not only benefit ourselves, it will also have a positive influence on the people around us.   In order to become more positive, you have to STOP doing some things and START doing others.  Here are some suggestions:

1. STOP trying to change other people…START changing yourself.Teenagers Smiling in Group Hug

2. STOP comparing yourself to others who have more than you do…START comparing yourself to others who have less than you.

3. STOP wishing you had things that other people have…START   being thankful for what you do have.

4. STOP believing in the media and the false myths that they are conveying…START believing in yourself, your talents, your abilities and skills—you are a wonderful, unique person.

5. STOP being around negative people and places…START surrounding yourself with positive people and places.

6. STOP worrying about all the little unimportant things in life (stuff)…START thinking about what is important (people).

7. STOP getting upset when you make mistakes because we all make mistakes…START by learning from them, keep on growing and try harder the  next time.

8. STOP setting unrealistic goals…START setting realistic goals and keep working towards them.

9. STOP working too many hours and not eating properly….START eating healthy, exercising and getting enough sleep.

10. STOP trying to do everything on your own…START asking for help when you need it and learn to work with others.

11. STOP looking for the negative in everything…START looking for the positives.

12. STOP giving up when things get hard…START to follow through on your commitments and never give up.

13. STOP complaining and criticizing others…START being nice to  other people even if they aren’t nice to you.

14. STOP thinking about your own problems…START helping others—find out how rewarding it can be to volunteer your time and talents.
